PLAB – Your Door to UK Career
Professional and Linguistic Assessments Board or PLAB is a licensing exam that all the international medical graduates (IMG) must take to practice medicine in the UK. The exam ultimately aims to ensure that the doctors who are qualified abroad have the expected level of knowledge and skills to practice medicine in the NHS. Once you qualify the test, it certifies that you are all fit to build a medical career in the UK.
Exam Structure
The tests comprises two Parts – PLAB 1 and PLAB 2.
PLAB 1
The Exam is conducted in the MCQ format with 180 questions. The candidate will have to submit it with in a duration of 3 hours
PLAB 2
It is an objective structured clinical examination (OSCE) which consists of 18 clinical stations. Each station is 18 minutes long with 2 minutes of reading time.
Exam Requirements
Before confirming your slots for the Test, you need to submit all the necessary documents required for the exam registration to GMC. This includes the evidence of your medical degree and your knowledge in English. Once you submit all the required data, you are eligible to apply for the PLAB 1 exam. The aspirant can apply for the PLAB 2 exam, once you pass the PLAB 1 exam.
Once you pass both the Tests, you are eligible to apply for a complete registration with a practice license. After the GMC has granted approval to your application, you are all set to be in your catbird seat that you are always dreaming about.
